Kelli O’Hara at Cafe Carlyle- the reviews are in!

kelli o'haraThis past Wednesday Kelli O’Hara started her two week run at Cafe Carlyle and the reviews are in!

The New York Times called her, ” America’s Sweetheart.”  And says  “from the moment she walked onstage Ms. O’Hara took charge, keeping her bright lyric soprano, with its reserves of coloratura, front and center and interspersing songs with breezy, informative patter. ”

Variety stated that, “To those who might have wondered whether Kelli O’Hara’s recent successes in “The Light in the Piazza,” “The Pajama Game” and “South Pacific” were due to strong material and skilled direction or just plain talent, O’Hara’s performance at  Cafe Carlyle makes it clear: This is talent, pure and not so simple.”

AM New York says, “Now displaying quite a baby bump, Kelli O’Hara won’t be doing cartwheels as Nellie Forbush in “South Pacific” again till the end of the summer. However, this has provided her with the sudden opportunity to do a pretty terrific solo show. ”

The New York Post raves, ” The three-time Tony nominee has the sort of innate sweetness that can’t be faked, and it comes through loud and clear in her debut engagement at the Cafe Carlyle. ” And that, “O’Hara displayed her gorgeously pure pipes on a well-chosen selection of songs.”

Congratulations Kelli!
