Stew and Heidi’s New Show…About Breaking Up
We saw them rock the Belasco Theatre in the Tony Award winning musical, Passing Strange. Now, Stew and Heidi Rodewald have a new show called Making It. Passing Strange took us on a journey through Stew’s childhood and twenties; their new show is just as personal, as it takes its audience through Stew and Rodewald’s breakup.
Stew and Rodewald have made no secret of their rocky personal relationship. About a year after Passing Strange closed on Broadway, Stew started writing breakup songs and approached Heidi about a collaboration. She took some convincing, but as he told New York Magazine, Stew told her, “We’ll switch off. You’ll sing about bad things you did, and I’ll sing bad things about what I do. No one will know who did what.” The product is Making It, which is running February 17-22 at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. St. Ann’s Warehouse, which commissioned the piece, describes it as “a rock show collage of song, text and video. The show traces the unlikely careers of Stew and Heidi from the dive rock clubs of Hollywood to the footlights of Broadway.”
Making It is sure to be an exciting theater experience. Until then, be sure to order your copy of the Passing Strange cast recording on our website!
